Emily Woo (she/her) is a 2026 Political Psychology Fellow and will be a third-year political science PhD student while serving as a summer fellow with the VRP. Her research focuses on voting, federal elections, and chronic electoral nonparticipation among minoritized communities. Her current projects include developing a racialized theory of political alienation to better explain electoral nonparticipation, examining how color-blind beliefs among Asian Americans predict conservative vote choice, and investigating how county-level exposure to LGBTQ+ Pride events influences Democratic voter turnout. Emily has published research in New Political Science and is committed to using quantitative methods to deepen our understanding of democracy and political participation. She earned her bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara and her master’s degree from San Francisco State University.
