ALEJANDRA CASTELLANOS is a first-generation Latina from Costa Rican and Mexican parents. She is currently a sophomore at UCLA studying Public Affairs. Throughout her high school and college years, she has been a dedicated leader and a role model to other women of color interested in pursuing public leadership positions. In high school, she served as the 2019-2020 Nevada Association of Student Councils President. At UCLA, she serves as Internship Co-Director in the Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC) Office of the Internal Vice President. Her work as a student leader has been to empower other students to enact change in their communities. At the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute, Alejandra hopes to deepen her research interests in healthcare, immigration, and education policy, while also supporting efforts to engage Latinx communities and expand political representation. In the future, she sees herself lobbying Congress for federal policy change.
