Christopher Galeano
Christopher Galeano is a UCLA School of Law (’21) student, enrolled in both the Public Interest Law and Policy Program and the Critical Race Studies Program. Growing up in Los Angeles County, specifically Palmdale, Christopher saw the way legal institutions helped marginalize and Black and Brown communities in the area. His path to law school was solidified after his family was defrauded by an unscrupulous notario and he got law enforcement to hold this notario accountable following three years of community organizing. After graduating from UC Irvine, he worked in Sacramento, California leading statewide pro-immigrant legislative campaigns. While in law school Christopher has volunteered with the CARA Pro Bono Project to assist asylum seekers in Dilly, Texas, externed in the District Court of the Central District of California, clerked for a plaintiff-side employment and labor law firm, and volunteered with Basta Inc. in Lancaster working on mobile home park tenant litigation. He is currently drafting his law review comment on the 2011 Community Action League v. City of Lancaster lawsuit, which in part helped empower Palmdale residents’ to successfully get the city to switch the city council voting system from at large to district-based elections.”
