Gloria Magallanes
GLORIA MAGALLANES (she/her/hers) is a second-year graduate student in the Master of Public Policy program at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. An incoming Policy Fellow within the UCLA LPPI Research Department, she is passionate about representing diverse communities through research and has a strong interest in economic mobility, community development, and housing.
At UCLA, Gloria worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Chicano Studies Department and participated in Luskin City Hall Day, analyzing homelessness and housing in L.A. She is also a Nonprofit Leadership Intern in the Housing Development Department at Step Up. Before graduate school, Gloria was a Conflict Coach at the National Conflict Resolution Center, where she facilitated communication workshops at homeless shelters and community organizations in San Diego. She also served as a volunteer at Jewish Family Services’ immigrant shelters.
Having moved across the country multiple times, Gloria is passionate about using her work as a community-building tool and uplifting the voices of others to expand representation in policy. She is a first-generation college graduate of UC San Diego, where she earned her B.A. in Global Health with a minor in Human Rights and completed her Senior Thesis on Transgender Healthcare in Immigration Detention Centers.
