Hector De Leon
HECTOR DE LEON (he/him/his) is the proud product of bracero farmworkers, garment workers, and loving parents and grandparents from Jalisco, Mexico. He is a senior majoring in Public Affairs and Labor Studies, with a minor in Education Studies, and is also a McNair Scholar.
Born and raised in the Inland Empire, Hector’s research focuses stem from his life experiences. This includes the intersectionality of public policy, education, labor rights, immigration, and socioeconomic justice. Currently, Hector is working on a research project investigating “Southern California’s Emerging School to Warehouse Pipeline.” He is driven to build a better world by centering community in his research. As a Policy Fellow in the UCLA LPPI Research Department, Hector is further developing his research and advocacy skills.
Ultimately, he plans to pursue his Ph.D. and become a professor so that he may continue to uplift his community through education.
