IRIS KIMBERLY CANTORÁN (she/her/ella) is a junior majoring in Labor Studies. She is an incoming Policy Fellow within the Research Department. Iris Kimberly participates in Grupo Folklórico de UCLA. She has co-chaired the position of Recruitment and Retention Manager where she worked to expand the organization’s membership, and fostered connections amongst members. She has participated in Latinas Guiding Latinas de UCLA as a mentor to elementary students in the Los Angeles area.

Iris Kimberly has a background in music education where she learned to develop service and leadership skills through the Conservatory of Leadership and the Arts, and various ensembles at her high school. She has worked directly with middle and secondary students as a mentor on bassoon performance to support her school district’s expansion of music education in San Diego county.

Iris Kimberly is a daughter of Mexican immigrants, and is a first generation college student. By joining together her Mexican heritage and leadership background, Iris Kimberly seeks to further develop her skills as a researcher to advance the rights of underrepresented and working class communities. She hopes to join social justice oriented movements on the topics of labor and employment rights, immigration rights, and environmental equity.
