Isabel Ortega Hernandez
ISABEL ORTEGA HERNANDEZ (she/her/ella) is a 3rd year first-generation Latina at UCLA pursuing a triple major in Political Science (Race, Ethnicity, and Politics Concentration), Chicanx and Central American Studies and Labor Studies, and a minor in Public Health. She is a Policy Fellow for the Latino Politics and Policy Institute within the Research Department, where she supports QA testing and Spanish translation for the Latino Data Hub.
As an undergrad, Isabel has been able to support projects around registering youth voters, surveying youth needs and workers and learners’ experiences, implementing a youth transportation program, allocating grant funds to youth-led mental health projects, among others. At UCLA, Isabel is an active member of Latinx Admit Weekend, COMPAS at UCLA, and the UCLA External Vice President Office within Local Relations.
Isabel’s upbringing in the city of Santa Ana in Orange County and roots in Jalisco, Mexico, her involvement in community organizations, and her commitment to bridging academia and community to humanize data prompts her to continue building her data skills.
