Jonathan Valenzuela Mejia
JONATHAN VALENZUELA MEJIA (he/him/his) is a senior double majoring in Public Affairs and Global Studies with minors in Central American Studies and Environmental Systems and Society. As an incoming Policy Fellow within the UCLA LPPI Communications Department, he is passionate about expanding accessibility and comprehension for resources geared towards communities of color.
At UCLA, Jonathan serves as the third General Representative for the Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC), focusing on expanding resources and opportunities for all students. Additionally, he serves as the Managing Editor for La Gente Newsmagazine and as the Co-Treasurer for Grupo Folklorico de UCLA. He was selected as a UCLA Law Fellow in 2022 and participates in the Undergraduate Research Scholars Program (URSP) researching Central American communities abroad for his Global Studies thesis. Jonathan is a Regents Scholar and was selected as a Leader-in-Residence for the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) in 2023.
Jonathan is a first-generation college student that proudly identifies with his Guatemalan roots from his immigrant parents. He grew up in Richmond at the center of the San Francisco Bay Area.
