Jose Garcia
JOSE GARCIA (he/him/his) is a second-year graduate student completing the Master of Public Policy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, where his focus areas include Inequality and Economic Development.
Jose was raised in San Diego, California after migrating from Mexico at the age of five. As a DACA recipient, Jose has been a vocal advocate in the fight for immigration reform at the national level. In early 2021, the New York Times published a letter to the editor he wrote urging Congress and the Biden administration to finally pass immigration reforms.
Before going back to school Jose held professional roles in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, where he helped mobilize Latinos in California for the 2020 presidential election and 2020 Census count.
Jose is now applying his skills and experience as a returning Fellow within the UCLA LPPI Mobilization Department, while supporting projects in the Research Department.
