Victor Tran
Victor Tran (he/him/his) is a second-year Master of Urban and Regional Planning student at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, with a concentration in Community Economic Development and Housing. Through his graduate studies and personal experiences, Victor is interested in pursuing professional development and a career in the affordable housing development and housing policy fields to affirmatively further fair housing, especially as many are denied the opportunity for secure, affordable housing and may live in informal, overcrowded housing as they resist gentrification and displacement. Through community development, participatory planning, and community-based planning and research, Victor is also interested in the ways we can use research and data to mobilize community based organizations and inform change and policy advocacy.
He is a first-generation college graduate from UCLA, where he received his BA in Sociology and Geography, with a minor in Urban and Regional Studies. Victor was born and raised in Orange County’s Little Saigon, an ethnic enclave for immigrants and Vietnamese refugees, which has shaped his interest in uplifting low-income and immigrant communities through his work.
