For more than 25 years, Vilma Ortiz has studied the socioeconomic experiences of Latinos in the U.S., focusing on specific Latino groups as well as comparative studies with other racial/ethnic groups.
Her most recent book is “Generations of Exclusion: Mexican Americans, Assimilation, and Race” (co-authored with Edward Telles, Russell Sage Foundation Publications, 2008). She is also co-author of “Challenging Fronteras: Structuring Latina and Latino Lives in the U.S.” (Routledge, 1997).
