Voting Rights Project Fellow

Vivian Alejandre is a 2020 UCLA graduate with a double major in Political Science and Sociology. She was born and raised in Boyle Heights and dedicates her work to help marginalized communities. Among Vivian’s duties as a UCLA Voting Rights Project (VRP) fellow, she maintains the VRP website and conducts research. Vivian most recently co-authored Protecting Democracy: Implementing Equal and Safe Access to the Ballot Box During a Global Pandemic, a report aimed at emphasizing the importance of a national vote-by-mail program amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Vivian believes it is important to bring awareness to voting rights in marginalized communities, especially during our current political climate.

Prior to becoming a fellow at VRP, Vivian worked at an immigration law firm where she helped conduct research, made sure court deadlines were met and helped translate to prepare for interviews with the goal of helping undocumented immigrants obtain legal status in the U.S.
