Overview
On July 15, UCLA LPPI convened over 80 multigenerational and multisectoral Latinx leaders to discuss the biggest issues facing U.S. Latinos amid COVID-19. The end result is a Latino agenda focused on policy recommendations that can improve opportunities for all Americans.
The 21st Century Latino Agenda was shared with policymakers, elected officials, philanthropists, and other stakeholders. As the nation grapples with COVID-19, an assault on Black lives, and worsening economic inequality during a presidential election year, the agenda addresses the policy areas that directly impact the health and safety, political voice, and economic opportunity of Latinos.
The issues addressed in the agenda are:
- Climate Change, Environment, and Public Health
- Criminal Justice
- Economic Opportunity and Social Mobility
- Education
- Health and Social Safety Net
- Housing
- Immigrant Rights
- Voting Rights and Political Representation
