Summary:
UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute (UCLA LPPI) hosted a policy briefing luncheon on May 4, 2022 at the Mayahuel Restaurant in Sacramento, CA. UCLA LPPI experts Dr. Silvia R. González, Dr. Yohualli B. Anaya, and Misael Galdámez presented members of the California State Legislature with new research and data insights on public health, housing, education and other key policy issues impacting California’s diverse Latino communities.
The briefing also provided an opportunity for members of the legislature to meet with UCLA LPPI’s newest cohort of student policy fellows, who participated in a delegation to the State Capitol as a part of their ongoing leadership development and advocacy training to become the next generation of public leaders.
Lastly, during the briefing, the Latino Legislative Caucus was recognized for its efforts to champion UCLA LPPI and secure investments from the state to transition from an initiative to an institute.
