Sonja Diaz in The Washington Post: “Karen Bass takes over a Los Angeles divided by crisis”

“Los Angeles is a city at a crossroads,” said Sonja Diaz, the founding director of UCLA’s Latino Policy and Politics Institute. “We’ve seen great increases in housing insecurity, food insecurity and widening economic inequality.” While these issues are long-standing, Diaz noted that they’ve been “exacerbated because of a lack of leadership from City Hall and coordination across jurisdictions,” especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

UCLA LPPI Recieves Funding from JPMorgan Chase & Co. to Support Research on Latino-led Economic Development

The UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute (UCLA LPPI), in collaboration with Arizona State University’s Center for Latina/os and American Politics Research (CLAPR), announced $1 million in funding over two years from JPMorgan Chase & Co. (Chase), today.
