California’s budget provides $15 million for UCLA to create the Latina Futures 2050 project

Governor Newsom signed California’s state budget which allocated $15 million to UCLA’s Latino Policy and Politics Institute (UCLA LPPI) to support policy research, leadership programs, and civic engagement with a Latina lens through the Latina Futures, 2050 Lab.

UCLA LPPI Releases new Data Briefs Detailing Indicators of Latino Wellbeing in California and Florida

(UCLA LPPI) released two new data briefs today that spotlight several key indicators of well-being for Latinos in California and Florida. The two briefs lay out data related to health access, education and income, among other indicators.

Sonja Diaz on KQED: “We’re seeing an exorbitant amount of money – tens of millions of dollars – by a single candidate in a primary, which is really shaping the election and turning off some voters.”

UCLA LATINO POLICY AND POLITICS INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL LATINO APPLIED POLICY RESEARCH AWARDS

The UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute has awarded a total of $150,000 to six Latino-led applied research projects at UCLA aimed at developing policy solutions to challenges facing Latino communities in California.

In spite of those incidents, which were well-publicized in Los Angeles, Villanueva has a number of structural advantages that will make him formidable, including an overwhelming funding edge, said Sonja Diaz, executive director of the UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Initiative.
